The whale-watching breathtaking experience, stunning views of the blue ocean driving by the coast line of Concepción Bay and the contrast of the desertic ecosystem await us in this special expedition on route number 1, that runs through Baja California Sur. This transpeninsular highway takes us from La Paz to Loreto where we find Jesuist Missions and islands with white soft sandy beaches, to Mulegé with its Oasis, to Santa Rosalía with its French influence and San Ignacio with historic San Ignacio Mission and its lagoon, to finally reach Guerrero Negro inside of the Biosfera reserve El Vizcaíno, with all splendid nature and wild life.

Loreto

A charming old town founded by the Jesuits in 1697, as well with the mission of Nuestra Señora de Loreto. We will enjoy tasty food at sofisticated and traditional restaurants and get a sunbathe at the beautiful beaches in Isla Coronado and Isla del Carmen. The trip to mission of San Javier is also an interesting adventure.

Santa Rosalía

Santa Rosalía is a very unique small town founded in the early 1880’s. Most of the buildings in the downtown area are made of wood and show in their architecture the French influence. On the way, there is Santa Rosalía church, famous for being designed by Alexandre Gustave Eiffel who designed and built the Eiffel Tower.

Guerrero Negro

Thousands of whales migrate to Guerrero Negro each spring where it makes for some of the best whale watching on earth. There’s also excellent bird-watching in the shallow marshes, and the largest salt factory’s odd white crystalline plains are quite beautiful.

San Ignacio

In this small town, you will find the beautiful mission of San Ignacio de Kadakaamán founded in 1716 by Padre Piccolo. Native people cochimies lived in there and the mission was established in 1728 by Jesuits Juan Bautista Luyando and Sebastian de Sistiagael. Its frontage is one of the most beautiful of the region.

Mulegé

In the middle of the desert, we can find a contrasting landscape with an oasis covered of date palms and other exuberant vegetation by the side of the Río Mulegé. Besides a mission set upon a hill that dominates a desertic and green valley.
